inguistics is a relatively new science which few people know about. A linguist is not a polyglot, who speaks a lot of different languages. A linguist studies the structure of language and the way we learn it and use it in discourse. If you are among the curious, this is the place for you. This page is your entree to a wide range of information about linguistics. Each page deals with a different fundamental subdiscipline of linguistics: historical linguistics, phonology (the study of sounds), syntax (the study of sentence structure), semantics (the study of meaning). Stay tuned; there is more to come in the future.
