Column 1: Expanded ISO 12620 code
This column displays the expanded position code of each 12620 data category. The term "expanded" in this context means that there are two digits between each point. This was done to facilitate sorting. (Example: ISO position code 12620 = 2.1.12, Expanded ISO position code = 02.01.12). Certain data categories in DXLT have not yet been added to 12620. These categories have been assigned a tentative position code and are distinguished by the parentheses around them.
Column 2: ISO 12620 Name
This column corresponds to the data category names in ISO 12620. Each data category name from the 12620 list is linked to a detail page which includes a description and an example of how to represent it in DXLT (unless the category has been disallowed) (see column 4).
Columns 3 & 4: DXLT Tag
Data categories in DXLT are generally represented as "types" of an DXLT Tag. For instance the ISO 12620 data category "term provenance" would be represented as <termNotetype= "termProvenance">. Column 3(DXLT Tag) tells what tag each data category belongs to and Column 4 (DXLT Mapping) indicates what the "type" or if it is a picklist value (PLV). Certain data categories are not included in DXLT because a different level of granularity was chosen or if the data category compromises blind interchange. In future versions of the webtool column 4 will contain information on how to handle data categories not in DXLT.
Column 5: Target
Indicates whether or not the data category can point to another term, refObject or an external resource.
Column 6: Data type
The information in this column tells the user what the content can be between the the beginning and end tags (see DXLT tag column 3). If the content is restricted to a picklist, there is a link to a table indicating what those values are. For instance, <termNote type="grammaticalGender">picklist value</descrip>. The values content must be one of the following: masculine, feminine, neuter, dual, other. If the data type is noteText or basic text the link will take you to a page describing which elements they consist of.
Column 7: Level restrictions
This shows what constraints there are regarding where a data category can appear. For instance, TC indicates it can appear in the term component section. Other abbreviations include: TE= termEntry, LS= langSet, TM= term.
Column 8: Subset
This column indicates which category the data category falls into term (T), administrative information(A), descriptive term related information(DT) or descriptive concept related information(DC).
IATE Information:
Data categories that appear as part of the IATE database are indicated by the yellow background and the asterisk by the ISO 12620 data category name. Those picklist items that form part of IATE are indicated by a double asterisk. A double asterisk indicates that the picklist value does not appear in 12620 but does in IATE-XLT format.
